Introduction

 How to Study:

This course and NUR942 build upon the 3 P's- Pathology, Pharmacology, Advanced Physical assessment so if you need to review those, do so. It is assumes you know that content. Your focus now is to answer the questions, how do I diagnose, treat, and prevent conditions and disease. This is a different role than you are use to but those are your key areas for growth. So not only do you learn disease management but also must learn fundamentals regarding lab and diagnostic test in order to diagnose and manage patient's care. You started this course with some new procedures you will need to do as part of this care. This module set you must begin to learn about reading radiology and doing ultrasound. You also begin to dig deep in lab interpretation. Mechanical Ventilation and respiratory failure are covered in NUR942.

There is a bunch of content so I have required a minimum amount of content on each topic but if you need more in order to understand, I suggest you refer to your standard references of Harrison, Current Medical Diagnosis & Treatment, Barkley, and Uptodate or just google the topic. As you see these conditions in clinical you will be expanding you knowledge and learning to integrate multiple conditions in your decision making for plan of care.
