- Barkley Chapter 78: Fluid, electrolyte, and Acid-Base Imbalances.
Understand disorders and management of sodium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorous, and calcium.
Pay particular attention to management of sodium. Know how to calculate water deficit and how much to give in the first 24 hrs. (I generally use my MedCalc) Knowing this you will know what labs to order, why, interpret what to do with the results.
