Course Information
Objectives
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe and compare the concepts of accessibility, usability, and universal design
- Employ accurate and appropriate terminology when discussing disabilities and accommodations
- Summarize important US legislation regarding accessibility for users with disabilities. (Learners from outside the US will be encouraged to research the relevant regulations in their region.)
- Describe assistive technologies employed by users with disabilities
- Identify common barriers to electronic materials access
- Evaluate the accessibility of various original and sourced materials
- Incorporate Ally feedback into the materials improvement process
- Create original documents and multimedia files that exemplify excellent accessibility levels
- Revise existing materials to increase accessibility
What You Will Need
In order to complete this course you will need:
Microsoft Office or equivalent office suite such Apache OpenOffice Links to an external site. or LibreOffice Links to an external site.
A Google account Links to an external site. (if you use Gmail, you already have one)
A high-quality Internet connection
Nice to have but not necessary:
