Group Vulnerable Population Presentations (30%)
Students will work in small groups to examine the health disparities of a specific vulnerable population. Students will analyze and present the available data that defines and describes the health issue in a specified population.
1. Each group must select a different clinical focus in a vulnerable population for their presentation. Choose a broad topic area and then focus more specifically: a. Neonatal/infant/pediatric health b. Women’s health c. Cardiovascular disease d. Cancer e. Mental health conditions f. Obesity g. Dental health h. End of Life and Hospice care 2. Each group must locate and critique at least 5 research articles related to their selected health disparity. 3. Synthesize your evidence of the health disparity. 4. Develop a PowerPoint presentation for our last class. The presentation should include the following: a. Background and significance of the selected condition. b. A description of the health disparity and vulnerable population. c. A synthesis of your research findings. d. How a population approach could reduce the disparity. 5. Presentations are limited to no more than 15 minutes. 6. Include a final slide that identifies each students’ unique contribution to the project. |
