Creating & Submitting Videos for Assignments and Discussions in Canvas
Instructors may expect students to record videos of themselves as part of a discussion board or to turn in as an assignment. Students should be able to do this with any webcam enabled computer or smart phone. Please consider the University of Kentucky hardware and software recommendations here Links to an external site..
To reply to a discussion post with video, follow the instructions in Part A.
To record and submit a video assignment, follow the instructions in Part B.
Some of the steps will be similar.
5 min Video Tutorial:
Text Tutorial:
1. Click the "Reply" button in the discussion assignment
2. Click the "Media Upload" button
3. Select "Allow" when/if flash asks to use your camera
(You may or may not need to select your camera)
When you see a preview of the camera, adjust and click record.
You will see an audio level on the right - make sure it doesn't go into the red too much. If you get no visible audio signal, you may need to check your camera selection/setup.
Then put a title in for your response (1) before saving (2).
