3/5 Congratulations, everyone got an A on Exam 2. There were a couple of miskeyed questions and a few more that your classmates have emailed with alternate supporting evidence.
.......2/22/18 Some students are having trouble with the link for opioid equivalents so I have replaced the file. Yes, on the exam you will be given the table but asked to do some dosing when switching from one opioid to another.
.....2/21/2018 Yeah - discussion board 2 is moving right along in both groups. You are reading and applying is excellent. Hope all is well with you besides this course.

....1/28/18 Congrats on completing the first discussion board. Everyone completed the assignment. The initial posts generally made several points. The subsequent responses made additions, expansions, and my opinion/analysis. In future posts do all of that and give some personal analysis. The posts of I agree are not all that helpful to the discussion. The question about elevator definition was too lengthy for an elevator and was the same difficulty in both groups. You will need to work on something with a max of 3 short sentences in language for the general public. Do know this is on the test so work on the short version. You will need this often in your career as well. Also be sure you know from the 2012 AACN Scope and Standards for ACNPs the 10 standards of Professional Practice. (I did not see any of the discussions cover this and it is important.)
For most of you this is your first discussion board of this type. For the second discussion board I will be providing a little more direction in the way of step 1, step 2, step 3 etc so that there will be a main step for each question, then all of the responses are under that specific stem. This may be easier for everyone to follow the discussions. But great job folks. Now prep for the exam.
....
1/21 Discussion board begins. Initial posts should begin with question number and then what the question asks, and your analysis. Responders then do a reply to that question's initial post.
1/18 group 1 assignments have changed. Respond to questions on new assignment for discussion board.

1/14/2018 I see everyone has opened up this course and has begun to explore and plan for the semester. I look forward to working with you. Let me know if you have questions.

Welcome to NUR980. I will be your course professor.
This introductory course builds upon your current FNP practice and provides an overview of the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner role-evolution. Professional issues and trends at the state and national levels will be analyzed. Additionally your 12-lead EKG interpretation skills will be reinforced in preparation for acute care clinicals.
We will not have face to face class meetings but will have discussion boards and opportunities to dialogue with the faculty. There are 3 exams and they will be taken on the scheduled date via canvas. Begin by reviewing the course syllabus and then do Module 1 readings. If you have questions at anytime please do email me and let me know.
I look forward to working with you.

The first Discussion Board is the week of January 22, 2018. There are 2 groups assigned by the first letter of your last name. Each group has the same set of 8 questions to address. Each student is given a list of those questions for which they do the initial post, questions to which they are the 1st responder, and a list of questions for which they are the 2nd responder. The initial post must be complete by January 22nd, First responder January 24th and Second responder by 26th 11:59pm. To do the initial post, first click on your group and then begin your post. The responders are to respond to the initial post of the question. Do your team a big favor and get those initial posts in as soon as possible as they can not respond until you do. I look forward to your work. The rubric is Role discussion rubric NUR980.docx Download Role discussion rubric NUR980.docx
