In this section, welcome your students to the course. You may choose to do this with a text-based message or a video. Check out an example below:

I am pleased to have you enrolled in [insert course name]! I look forward to an exciting semester and working with each of you to further [insert overall learning outcomes/course goal(s)]. Click the  "Get Started" link above to become familiarized with the layout and structure of this course. 

A video introduction would have the same verbal content but increases your social presence and connection with the student by hearing your voice and seeing your face.

Home Page Tips:

• Update the banner image (currently the UK image) to reflect your course topic/content.
• In your welcome message, be sure to indicate to students where they should go next after viewing the home page.
• Keep it simple! The purpose of a brief, welcoming message or video (3-5 minutes) is to help students get started with the course and direct them where to go next for more information. 
• Provide your communication preferences to the students at the beginning of the course; be sure to eliminate any communication channels not applicable to your course.
